HDR Panoramic view on the Leinsweiler village in Germany

We were in Leinsweiler last August (2011) for a wedding and stayed at the local Leinsweiler Hof Hotel.

That was about time… but I´m afraid it will be only a little bit to late.. like wayyyy tooooooooo late…

The discussions about the fact if Flickr is still relevant, specially in the light of Facebook Photos, Google+ Photos and even the small 500px …

But that is a story for another time, what will get more interesting is the Flickr camera finder stats.

Lately the line have been going very very well for the iPhone in these stats. Please see attached screenshots for the development among the cameras. What is still beyond my imagination is the total lack of any android device in these stats, except for one HTC phone.

When you know that Android is the best selling mobile phone platform in the world, how is it possible that there is no presence on the largest photo sharing site???

Until now the main reason was that the meta data supposedly was stripped out of the photos. Some 3rd party apps in the Android market do stripe out the metadata, but they´re not the most popular photo apps though.

There are 2 very obvious reasons I could imagine myself of:

• Android users don´t like to share their photos online (On Flickr in this case) or it is not so easy.
• Apple users are over-sharing

Now with the official Flickr app we should see very soon an uptick within these stats, so I’ll be checking back within a few weeks. And then we can see which one of the hypothesis is correct.

Update: It seems that it tracks only the visitors who are coming through Google+ at http://picasaweb.google.com. So it doesn’t record all your visitors.

Now that Google Plus is using Picasa Web for the photo storage, I was wondering if it was possible to track your Google Plus visitors within Google Analytics.

It turns out, it is more or less possible. And frankly it’s quite simple.

The only requirement is basically that you link your Google Analytics account with your Google Picasaweb albums. Please see my tuturial on how to set this up.

Then after a while you can see the posts coming up. Including the album names.

Googleplus Photos Analytics Integration

The only thing is that it seems it doesn’t collect your post photographs. And the Source is direct, due to the HTTPS.

It is the view from the backside of our house and I made it in HDR for the effects it causes…

The light coming out of window in comparisation with all the house already extremely dark in the middle of the night.

This is one of the functions where I think it makes HDR so powerful.. You’ll be able to generate a great effect with a few different photographs and stitching them back together…

I hope to be able to post soonish again a few different photographs and explications on how to make them… Among them more HDR photography and pictures from Zierikzee.

Harbor with Old Boat

Harbor with old Boat

This picture from the Zierikzee harbor and the old boat in it is taken in September.

No adjustments have been made to this photograph, only some serious waiting and measuring. But that’s the job sometimes.

I hope you guys enjoy this photograph and don’t forget the panoramic photographs from the Keukenhof.

HDR Luxembourg Terrace view

Luxembourg Terrace View in HDR.

This HDR photograph is from within our Hotel room which we had during our stay in Luxembourg city.

The HDR Terrace view photograph is build upon 6 different photograhs, with each of them with 2 stops aperture between each of them . It’s the first and only HDR photograph I’ve taken from a person, this is mainly because of the details involved within a photograph. But this one is just perfectly suited in my taste

Furthermore, talking about details, you can see clearly within the windows that they forgot to clean a small part of the windows, it ain’t your computer screen with the stripes on it. I hope you can enjoy this photograph as much as I do and enjoy the colours within. As well we loved the terrace with the wide view over the beautiful city and the large church tower in the middle.

Don’t forget the frosty photograph from yesterday, the number 11.

Morning Time

Morning Time

The morning is one of the best times to actually make photographs. This is often due to the fact that for example the Dew is still there from the night, the nature is relatively calm and the sun is not shining so bright.

That’s where this picture come into play. It’s one of the pictures I made on my way to work in Belgium. The beauty of going with my bike is that I’ve had time to actually see the nature and where needed take a few pictures.

I really like this picture because there are many ideas transformed into one. The morning sun is still a bit weak, there is a bit of morning dew and the quiet roads. It’s just like everything is preparing for a really busy day while still enjoying their morning time.

Then even more, the bad conditions of the road, both for the bike and the cars, the road signs and the reflectors on the road makes it that there area many details within this morning time photograph that you discover every time something new.

Patterns in Zierikzee

Patterns…

Patterns in Photography can be important. In general I use them to point into the Depth or a special Sign.

This Photograph I really like for that, due to 2 Patterns.

• The First Pattern are the Tile son the ground. This Pattern creates a certain sentiment of Depth within this picture. Like that you can see that it’s not a flat picture.
• The second pattern I like here are the Columns of the building which are guiding you to the Center of the Photograph. And in the Center you can find the sign to a Restaurant with a Terrace.

That’s why this picture made it into the number 14 spot of the 31 best photographs, due to the great patterns within it.

Frozen Leaf in Black And White

Frost Covered leaf

This Black and White photograph from a Frost Covered Leaf in March 2010.

As many of you know, the early part of the year was very chilly, with many different temperatures and weather.

This small leaf dared to rise out of the ground early and directly got covered with frost in the morning. I like this photograph because you can see very clearly the frost layer on top of the leaf and the other leaves around it.

This photograph is taken with my zoomlens, and taken with a 155 mm distance and a low ISO of 100.

Enjoy this photograph of the frost covered leaf and when the weather continues like this, I suspect the same kind of photographs this upcoming march.
